SESSION TIPS - YOUR PRE-SHOOT CONSULTATION
|
- Talk openly with your photographer BEFORE the shoot about just HOW risque you are willing to get in your pics, what types of poses you are comfortable doing, etc This avoids uncomfortable moments during the shoot. Remember, most photographers are accustomed to filming seasoned models and many things you might find "exposing" are common for them.
- Let your photographer know about any "trouble-spots" or parts of your body you are especially self-conscious about. This will help the photographer adjust lighting, posing and wardrobe to maximize your best features, and minimize the things that
bother you.
- Bring lots of things to try on for your photo shoot. Your photographer should be will to help you pick the items that will photograph best. Don't forget high heels, nylons and other things that will accent your features.
- Your photographer will show you samples of the types of shots and poses you might like to try. Let go and get into the session. Try new things as long as you are comfortable with the content.
- Bring a nice silky robe to cover yourself between shot set-ups.
- Bring makeup and hair styling items of your own even if there will be a makeup artist. It's very important to be able to look camera ready by yourself. In general for photography wear just "a little heavier than if you were going out on the town" but don't over do your foundation, you don't want to look plastic.
- A glass of wine before a photo shoot can be a good thing for people who are nervous. (not more than one, though, or you could end up with "sleepy eyes" in your photos.) Bring a small bottle of your favorite beverage and don't be afraid to ask your photographer for refreshments even if you just want water.
- Bring a girlfriend to the shoot. Don’t bring boyfriends/husbands with you. This will make you more self-conscious, not less. Plus, extra bodies in the room can make things awkward, logistically. They can get in the way of lights, backdrops, etc. If you are nervous about filming with a photographer the first time search him on the web, meet him for a cup of coffee a couple days before. You can find out if he's a professional before your shoot. Coming to a shoot with a "guardian" insults a professional photographer.

SESSION TIPS - LOOKING YOUR BEST
|
- NUMBER ONE! Get a good night sleep! Don't go out and party for a couple days before your shoots. Photoshop can do wonders to erase droopy eyes but nothing can hide atired, lifeless model.
- Do you hair a little "more full" with more body, a little heavier hairspray than you normally would do. But, not so much that it won't blow naturally in a breeze.
- Don't come in for your shoot with tan lines. They are the most difficult thing to airbrush out, and they don't photograph well. Either avoid tanning altogether, tan in the nude, or get a GOOD spray tan.
- DON'T OVER WAX OR PLUCK! Get your eyebrows waxed (or tweeze them) a couple of days before your shoot. You don’t want post-waxing redness to be a problem and never over-pluck, this gives you an unatural look eyebrows are sexy... Look at Brooke Shields!
- Moisturize your entire body with a light lotion before your shoot. (no body oils, powders, or bronzers, though!) make sure you're covered everywhere. Most photographers dislike having a model ruin their chairs and settings, don't use too much oil if you're lying on a set or backcloth.
- If you really want to look like a model, take steps to insure that body hair (yes, everywhere) is to a minimum. Choose your own method, but barer is always better in photographs.
- Don’t wear tight-fitting undergarments on the day of your shoot. These leave unsightly body lines that can stay with you for hours!
- Think happy, sexy, pleasant thoughts during your shoot. Your mood will absolutely come through the expressions on your face. If you are nervous tell the photographer, if they are good they will know "tricks" to help you relax.

SESSION TIPS - SIMPLE BUT SEXY WARDROBE IDEAS
|
-
- Bikinis are "common" but finding the right bikini is priceless. Ask your photographer before what cut he/she thinks will suit your figure. If you can convince your photographer to help you find the perfect suit spend a couple hours in a bikini store. You'd be surprised how a different cut will make you look!
- Victoria's Secret night gowns, teddies, babydoll negligees, silky robes, sheer nighties, etc.
- A plain white tank top and white cotton undies is simple and versatile, but very sexy!
- A nice matching lacy bra and panty set in any color is great. Adding nylons can be very good too!
- Thigh-high stockings, with or without a garter belt, fishnets, etc
- The classic "little black dress" or "night out in vegas " dress always works!
-
- Concealed nudes and body shots are considered standard and very acceptable to our society. But, you always have the final decision what is acceptable to you.
“THEME” WARDROBE IDEAS (Optional)
- A good part of being a model is acting. If you can portray yourself in many different personalities it will come in handy for future shoots.
- Most models look awesome in Halloween costumes - Cheerleader, sexy witch, Elvira vampiress of the night, a "classy" call girl, etc
- Hollywood pinup and40s-50s pin up
- Harem Girl, Genie in a bottle (or Bellydancer)
